Introduction to My Second Internship

In my previous LIS 181, I worked at the UP Main Library. Of course, I passed my internship which was very challenging and well worth the time I spent in it.

My second LIS 181 will be my last course before I graduate from the Bachelor of Library and Information Science course.

Prior to the start of midyear, I thought of working at the UP Vargas Museum to capitalize on my strong archival background. However, due to strict requirements such as NBI clearance, I decided to look for another institution to serve my internship, without withdrawing my application at the UP Vargas Museum just in case they become lenient on their requirements.

On June 8, which was the first day of classes, we had a briefing where my OJT instructor gave us the guidelines, as well as the deadlines which forced me to withdraw my application at the UP Vargas Museum.

Some of my friends recommended that I go to SEAMEO INNOTECH. Fortunately, one of my classmates told me that there was a vacant slot for interns at the Ateneo de Manila University Archives. So, I emailed my application to the Ateneo de Manila University Archives thus making it my first choice. I also emailed an application to SEAMEO INNOTECH thus making it my second choice. I waited until the next day for their answers. Sadly, I did not get any reply from both of them.

On June 10, I went to the Ateneo de Manila University Archives to look for Ms. Carina C. Samaniego. I talked to her about my interest in the available internship slot at the ADMU Archives. Perhaps due to my archival background, she accepted my application and she told me that I should start by June 13. I nearly got a heart attack due to too much excitement!

That ends my search for an institution where I can complete my internship. Good luck to my internship.
